This course focuses on the study of climatic factors and the ways they affect human health. Learners will examine how climate changes such as temperature, rainfall, chemical transformations, and air pollution affect human health through food security, waterborne diseases and diseases resulting from exposure to extreme weather events. The main topics that will be covered in this course include extreme weather events, waterborne diseases, food security, climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as environmental communication.
At the end of this course, learners will be able to:
Upon completion of this course, learners will be equipped to undertake advisory roles in local government, public administration, private sector companies, or international organizations contributing to the development, evaluation and implementation of climate change adaptation plans in the human health domain.
