ABSTRACT
Available research has established that animal advocacy parties, albeit constituting a distinctive party family, have many similarities with green parties. However, this assessment has been based on analyses of animal advocacy parties’ political/election manifestos. In this research, we revisit this question for the youngest European animal advocacy party, the Greek Komma gia ta Zoa (KZ, Party for the Animals, established in 2020), through an analysis of the party members’ views. We find that the members have a strong left-libertarian agenda and worldview. Nevertheless, their lesser concern about trademark environmental issues suggests that they indeed differ from green parties.
